Aug 21, at 6:30 PM. Instrumental surf bands of the 60s. Groove to the surf beat reminiscent of such artists as Dick Dale the Ventures, the Bel-Aires, Chantays, and many others. Enjoy the music of The Sound Waves at the Central Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd. The surf beat is a part of "The Sounds of Summer," a special series of outdoor concerts at each of the three Burbank Public Library locations.

Thursday August 23, Orquesta La Palabra. Led by Cuban-born pianist, composer and singer La Palabra, this 11-piece ensemble delivers an exquisite blend of Cuban and other Latin rhythms. Their music bears the influence of varied performers such as Tito Puente, Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie but it all comes together in a sound that's uniquely La Palabra's. 818.238.5180

2008 Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl

On Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 8 a.m. (PST), millions of spectators from around the world will celebrate the New Year with the 119th Rose Parade themed Passport to the World's Celebrations. The Rose Parade will once again feature the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands. Following the Rose Parade, at 2:00 p.m. (PST), the 94th Rose Bowl Game will feature an exciting match up between two championship teams in The Granddaddy of Them AllĀ®. The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
